“ART BY SUMAC”
SUSAN B. MCINTYRE
I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. Many of my family for many generations have been artists. I was surrounded by art.
My great grandfather Wilhelm Geiger was a noted oil painter in Germany in the 1800’s. My father Eugene Platt was both a civil engineer and a watercolor painter. My mother Helen Platt sang and could play many instruments as could her mother and sisters. My sister Sandra Dec was a watercolorist, and her daughter Karen Dec is a charcoal and pastel artist. The beat goes on…
My art education has taken me to many clinics and classes both in the United States and in Mexico. My teachers opened my eyes to many new boundaries.
My serious art started as a watercolor artist, switching to acrylics then oil painting. I have been painting and selling art for thirty years.
About three years ago I returned to an old passion of ceramics. Here I incorporate both my artistic ability and imagination.
In doing my art it feels surreal in that I often feel that some higher power is guiding my hands and bringing forth surprises in what appears on the canvas or in the clay.
Art is my passion and best form of meditation. It keeps me balanced and happy.
